About the Artist:
Jarlin Bayles is a proud descendant of the Waka Waka and Gureng Gureng clans as well as the Birri Gubba, Gangulu and Wuli Wuli nations. She draws the inspiration for her paintings from the colours of her country, the bush tucka of her people and the stories of her land.

After being postponed from November last year and a long wait for new dates, I have finally been given the opportunity to play for the U19’s Queensland combined Indigenous Oztag team. The competition takes place down in Tweed Heads on 5th-6th March this year playing in the Battle of the Nations tournament, where QLD and NSW Indigenous teams verse in a thrilling two-day Oztag carnival. I am a young Goreng Goreng man with heritage from the Ngapuhi tribe in NZ as well.

Platypus - Platypus have always been residents of the Dawson River and creeks that surround Theodore. Yakani was lucky enough to spot one swimming in the river while he was with his Grandfather one day, this is where the idea to do a painting of a Platypus came from.
About the Artist:
Yakani Bayles is a proud young man of the Waka Waka & Gureng Gureng clans as well as the Birri Gubba, Gangulu and Wuli Wuli nations. With the guidance of his Mother, the talented 5 year old loves to create a mix of contemporary and traditional Indigenous art. The inspiration for his work comes from nature. The colours, animals and the landscape of his hometown - Theodore.
